MOL AccessPortal Berhad (MOL) was incorporated in Malaysia under the Companies Act, 1965 on 9 February 2000 as a private limited company under the name of Superior World Sdn Bhd. It assumed its present name on 8 July 2000 and was converted into a public limited company on 29 April 2002. MOL was officially listed on the MESDAQ Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad under the Technology Sector on 22 December 2003. It was subsequently privatized by its controlling shareholders on 25 February 2008.
MOL is a MSC Malaysia Status Company that operates and develops payment systems. It leverages on a network of over 100,000 physical and virtual payment channels across 40 countries worldwide to operate its key payment products, namely MOLePoints; an online micropayment system for content and services, MOLeTopUp; an electronic prepaid distribution infrastructure, MOL Freedom; a multi-application prepaid MasterCard, Gameshive; an online game payment aggregator, MOL Wings; a payment aggregator for wired and wireless internet service providers and MOL Safepay; an escrow-based payment system for micro-merchants.
MOL presently operates three local and regional payment platforms, namely MOL Global serving global consumers which currency is based on the US Dollar, MOL Greater China serving China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau consumers which currency is based on the China Renminbi and MOL Malaysia serving Malaysian consumers which currency is based on Ringgit Malaysia.
MOL was recognized as one of Asia Pacific’s fastest growing technology companies in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific Awards in 2005 and 2006 and has won a Merit Award for the Best of E-Commerce Applications in the MSC Asia Pacific ICT Awards. |
